John James Audubon Bridge
USRM is pleased to be a part of the Design-Build Project Team that was awarded the John James Audubon Bridge Project from the U.S. Coast Guard (USCG) and Louisiana Department of Transportation and Development (LDOTD). The new cable stay bridge will connect the west bank of the Mississippi River in New Roads, Pointe Coupee Parish to the east bank in St. Francisville, West Feliciana Parish.
USRM prepared the Threatened and Endangered Species Protection Plan specifically for the Louisiana black bear and the Pallid Sturgeon. The project will include a 12.1 mile roadway with nine (9) wildlife crossings and nearly 20,000 feet of elevated roadway which connects habitats for the Louisiana black bear. As part of the Protection Plan, the Project Wildlife Biologist, Natalie Snider Hanna, prepared an educational presentation which will inform all project workers of the issues presented in the Protection Plan. The initial educational program was presented to over 100 project workers on September 11, 2006.
